“Our CrossFit journeys began separately, mine in 2016, and Ben’s in 2019. We are “works in progress” but since starting at CFX-Morris we have both shed some weight, about 80 pounds between the two of us, and have become more healthy individuals, both physically and mentally.
We prefer working out at the gym but this is not possible during the pandemic so we continue working on our fitness at home every day. Working out at home can be a challenge but CFX-Morris has provided us with personal coaching via certified CrossFit coaches, specialized daily programming, equipment, and range of motion training (ROMWOD). Even though we aren’t physically working out with other athletes at our gym, we are still engaging with them and supporting each other every single day. It is also very important to mention the incredible friendships we have made at CFX-Morris. Everyone struggles with something and having people next to you cheering you on makes all the difference in the world. CrossFit is a game changer and we are both so grateful to be a part of such an awesome community. “

“I have always been into some type of physical fitness, but I always struggled with the motivation to push myself further. In 2015, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and walk into a CrossFit Exemplify. I had heard of CrossFit but wasn’t sure what to expect.
I am so happy I took that leap because CFX has changed my mindset on what it means to be “fit”. I used to spend endless hours doing cardio on an elliptical and lifting 5lb weights as to not get “bulky”. I not only saw results very quickly at CFX, but I also learned what my mind and body were capable of doing. From being able to do Olympic weightlifting, to pushing myself way past my comfort zone in a WOD, getting to CFX to workout immediately became my favorite part of the day. Each day is a new workout challenge to push yourself to do something you never thought you’d be able to do. I have never been a part of such a positive community of like-minded people who are there to cheer you on until your last rep. I have met so many amazing and inspirational coaches and athletes that I get to call my friends. I continued to do CF during my pregnancy, and being in shape helped me not only stay in tune with my body during my pregnancy, but also to recover postpartum. As a woman, the community at CFX is something I love to be a part of so that I can, one day, be able to show my daughter that being strong is beautiful. I can’t wait for her to be able to join the CFX CrossFit kids classes when she is older so that she can learn the value of being healthy and strong.”

“Prior to joining CrossFit I felt stuck in my fitness goals. I’d been running and working out, but with the birth of my first son, I’d gotten up to an all time high of 210lbs. Hitting that on the scale made me seek out CrossFit Exemplify, and I’m so glad I did.
At first, I loved the new challenge of learning new programming and getting into CrossFit shape. Eventually, as I got to know people, I realized that I’d also gained a community of other people that I could lean on and help push me through tough times. My body adapted and my mental toughness followed suit. I got down to about 185lbs and around 10% body fat. I love having energy and strength to play with my boys all day long and not be sore after a day of working in the yard. I’ve developed functional strength that overall improves my quality of life way more than my years of going it alone in the gym ever provided. I’ve been super impressed with the way our gym has pivoted to virtual training and love the personal, customized focus I get from my coach. I’ve stayed in my routine, and it has been a bright spot during these tough times. I’ve been so happy that I took the step in joining this community and strongly encourage anyone from any background to give it a shot. You’ll come for the workout but will stay for the people.”
